The Institute for the Study of the History of Medicine, Iranian Medicine and Complementary Medicine, as the first official and legal origin of designing, organizing, providing scientific, educational and research resources of traditional medicine in the country, has started its official activity since 2001 under the supervision of Iran University of Medical Sciences.Sarah Williams

Revival of the great and valuable medical heritage of the Iranian civilization in the Pirnia monument belonging to Mirza Hassan Khan Mushir al-Dawla, the Prime Minister of Iran during the Qajar period.

 This ancient mansion is located in a garden with an area of ​​approximately two thousand and five hundred square meters. This historical monument was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran on August 4, 1997.

The inauguration ceremony of the first traditional medicine training course was held on the 7th of October, 1386, in the presence of the then Minister of Health at the institute.
